Products > Slip-Resistant
Algrip™ is the new generation of slip-resistant flooring designed to provide safe walking surfaces for the most demanding commercial and industrial installations. Engineered to provide safe, sure footing in wet or dry conditions, Algrip™ has been tested for the most severe environments and has proven durable, functional and superior.
VERSATILITY
Algrip™ is manufactured with a standard .250 x .375 staggered matrix. This pattern can be
modified to meet the distinct needs of specific applications. Custom patterns have been developed to provide defined visible nosings for OEM stair tread applications as well as specialty flooring applications. Contact our engineering staff for consultation on custom patterns and applications.
MANUFACTURE
Algrip plate products have efficiently served industry for over 40 years. When work areas are subject to the accumulation of moisture, fluids or lubricants, Algrip is your number one choice! The slip-resistant properties of Algrip Floor Plate provide continuing worker safety in the automotive, petrochemical and food processing industries, just to name a few.
DURABILITY
The durability of Algrip™ Slip-Resistant Floor Plate originates with the steel substrate selected for each application. Available in steel sheets and plates as thin as 14 gauge, ASTM-A-569 steel, Algrip™ is also available in any thickness ASTM A-36 steel plate for structural applications. While these durable steel substrates provide a solid foundation for the finished product, their strength is only the beginning!
SAFETY
The unique defined matrix application of Algrip™ laser deposits provides unparalleled slip-resistance in all directions. The standard .250 x .375 staggered matrix allows appropriate spacing for shoe soles and vehicular wheels to completely encircle and “grab” the deposits. With more than 1500 deposits per square foot, Algrip™ provides superior safety and increased pedestrian comfort. For applications where ergonomics are a paramount concern, Algrip™ offers a safe, creative solution.
SLIP-RESISTANCE AND COF
Slip-resistance is commonly tested in a laboratory setting by measuring for static coefficient friction (COF) in accordance with ASTM procedure C-1028. This testing procedure assigns a value to the traction surface while that surface is tested under wet and dry conditions. Because the greatest concern for slip-resistance relates to worker/pedestrian safety, this procedure can be further refined to test each condition using samples of common shoe sole materials; leather, rubber and neolite (composition). The results of these tests are expressed in numerical values with higher values indicating increased slip-resistance.
FEDERAL GUIDELINES FOR COF – The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommends that walking surfaces maintain a minimum COF of 0.50. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) recommends that level walking surfaces maintain a 0.60 COF and that materials for inclined ramps maintain a more stringent 0.80 COF.
ALGRIP™ PROVEN SUPERIOR – The test results presented in the table below demonstrate that Algrip™ exceeds published Federal Guidelines in all conditions!
ENVIRONMENTAL
All Algrip™ products are manufactured with recycled materials and are themselves fully recyclable. Unlike production of other slip-resistant floor products, there is no accumulation of smoke,
overspray or solid waste.
