Peterson Company
History

Peterson Company was founded in 1931 by Howard Peterson to represent various manufacturers in the electrical industry. Howard’s philosophy that “a company needs to make something” eventually led to Peterson Company opening a metal fabrication shop to begin building such diverse items as baby carriages and apple corers before finally becoming one of the largest grating fabricators west of the Mississippi.

The company has always been based on having a quality, technically oriented sales staff and production crews to serve customers in the Rocky Mountain Region. With offices/fabrication facilities in Denver and Salt Lake City, we stand ready to serve our manufacturers and customers. We have relationships that have been in place for more than eighty years and we are proud to consider them our partners. Peterson Company was Colorado’s first ESOP, and the company to this day is still owned by the employees. This positions Peterson Company ownership succession well into the future while providing every employee with a vested interest in our manufacturers’ and customers’ success.

Our Company Is Divided Into Two Divisions:

Electrical

Peterson Company, a founding member of the Electric Equipment Representative’s Association, represents various manufacturers of electrical equipment. These product lines cover the wide range of Utility, Telecom, and Industrial Equipment, including medium and high voltage, distribution, substation and transmission products. Our professional sales staff is the critical link between the user and manufacturer, providing expertise in the application of these products and customer service unsurpassed in the Inter-Mountain West.

Specialty Metal

Peterson Company’s metal division was founded in 1955, making us one of the oldest grating fabricators/distributors in the United States. Our full-service fabrication facilities have the capabilities to provide specialty metal products for light commercial and heavy industrial requirements. Over the years, we have added numerous items to our inventory such as perforated metal, expanded metal, welded and woven wire mesh, roof & floor decking, safety flooring, abrasive stair nosing, and pre-engineered stair systems. We felt that these items complemented our main product offerings of plank grating, fiberglass grating and structural shapes. Our fabrication shops have the equipment and skills necessary to fabricate any of the above items to meet any project.
